My fee is $150 for a 50 minute session. Longer sessions such as 75-120 minutes can be arranged if indicated at a prorated fee.
I only accept health insurance as payment for individual therapy or family therapy in which one individual has a presenting problem, but not for couple therapy.
Health insurance policies only pay for psychotherapy services delivered in the 45-50 minute time frame with a clearly identified client. Since couples therapy is designed to view the relationship as the “identified client,” it does not fit cleanly into the diagnostic criteria required for insurance billing.
I can collect insurance payments from any of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans of Massachusetts, Harvard Pilgrim, United Healthcare, GIC Beacon, and Tufts. There are other plans that allow consumers to choose an out-of-network provider after an annual deductible is met. I am willing to bill directly to any insurance company providing you are clear about the co-payments and the deductibles that you are responsible for. I appreciate payment each session for your part of the fee.
If an insurance company refuses to pay your bill, you are responsible for the full fee.
The cost for a six-hour one-day intensive is $1200, while the cost for the two and a half day intensive is $2600. A pre-screening interview by phone with both members of the couple on the line is conducted prior to making the commitment or paying a deposit. Payments can be made by check or credit card. A deposit of 50% is required to hold the date with the balance due the day prior to meeting.
